Copenhagen, Denmark – Tema Design by MK Illumination has produced a complex water mill for Europa-Park’s opening season. For the 2018 season Europa-Park has invested more than 25 million euros in new rides, upgrading and decorations around the park.

Some of the investment has been used to add a new section to their French themed area, where it now is possible to try out the authentic Alsatian cuisine due to their new established Tarte Flambé Bakery.

When enjoying the delicious Alsatian food, you are taken back in time by the themed surroundings which include a brand new authentic looking water mill.

Tema Design by MK Illumination was chosen to produce and design the authentic looking water mill, based on sketches from Europa-Park.

“We really wanted to capture the feeling of the good old days where life seemed simpler, and to do that we wanted an authentic looking water mill providing relaxing water sounds, to create a desired atmosphere for our French area” Chris Lange, Creative Director at Europa-Park.

Europa-Park knew they needed a supplier with specific woodworking knowledge.

“We know that it is not easy building an authentic looking water mill, as specific knowledge is needed about the right use of materials and construction so the balance of the water mill is equal all the way around, in order to keep the mill running” says Chris Lange, Creative Director at Europa-Park.

Europa-Park chose Tema Design by MK illumination as supplier for the project due to their previous corporations and because they are able to build complex woodwork.

“We are known for our fiberglass decorations, but not that many knows how strong our skills and knowledge actually is in producing woodwork, so we are really happy that Europa-Park chose us to produce their new water mill” Lars Nielsen, Themed Attraction Manager at Tema Design by MK Illumination.

When asking how come they are to prefer over other woodworking suppliers, Lasse Jørgensen, Production Manager at Tema Design by MK Illumination says “Simply because we have really skilled employees, who have done incredible woodwork for many years”.

It is not the first time Lasse Jørgensen works on a water mill project “before starting as a production manager for Tema Design by MK Illumination, I worked on a water mill project for a world famous Danish amusement park. This knowledge combined with my employees’ makes it possible for us to design and produce a complex project like the new water mill for Europa-Park”.
