Denmark – Tema Design and Tema Design by MK Illumination, market leaders in the manufacture of themed concepts for the attraction industry worldwide, have announced the opening of a world-class production facility, in Pampanga Economic Zone, Philippines. The vast facility is to become the heart of the rapidly-growing companies’ manufacturing activities, allowing them to continue delivering high-quality, innovative products to clients across the globe.

“We’ve had to grow quickly in order to keep our quality, pricing and timing commitments to our clients.” stated Rene Hansen, owner of Tema Design and Tema Design by MK Illumination. “We want to continue to grow and deliver exceptional products, and we’re excited that we now have a custom-built production facility that allows us to do this.”

When asked to elaborate on how a Danish company would be able to manage quality in the Philippines, Hansen explained that it all comes down to values.

“As Danes, we value quality and delivering on our promises. We have high expectations and so do our clients. Clear processes and controls have allowed us to compete successfully against much larger competitors over the last few years, and we’re going to use the same processes, controls and values in our new facilities to meet and even exceed client expectations.”

The new facility, which occupies a total area of 14,268m², has the capacity for up to 700 new employees across three buildings and has been finished to the highest standards to support the companies’ plans for growth.  The largest of the three buildings is dedicated to production, and will house most of the production departments and processes. A second building is largely dedicated to product finishing, and will also house the packing and loading; animation and animatronics; and tailoring departments. The final building is the head office, where clients are received and where the management, design, IT, sales, support and administrative teams are based.

Hansen is keen to point out that whilst the facility itself is important, care has been taken to ensure that the working environment is world-class for staff, too.

“We’ve built a canteen that can accommodate up to 100 people with a fully-functioning kitchen. We have a clinic with desks for a doctor and a nurse in case of emergency, as well as first aid facilities.  And of course, the facility is equipped with all modern safety features like accessible fire exits in all departments, centralised fire detection and alarm systems, emergency fire hose cabinets and sprinkler systems. It’s important that our staff are happy and safe.”

What about future growth? Well, Hansen has thought of that, too.

“Tema Design has the opportunity to expand the production area by an additional 5,000m².he says with a smile.
